Research Notes

Re: Named as mother
The 1837 marriage record for Johann Friedrich Mummelthei and Catherine Taege names "Johann Dietrich Mummelthei" and "Anna Marie Schmidt" as his parents. Transcription should say marriage location Drösede, not Bömenzien.[5]

1837 - Katharine Dorothee Taege and Johann Friedrich Mummelthei Marriage

Re: Letter regarding transcriptions from family historian who lives in Saxony-Anhalt, Federal Republic of Germany: [6]

"Neither Johann Friedrich nor his children were baptized [in Genzien]. I have to explain a few things about this. On ancestry, Genzien is presented as an independent church [parish]. That is not right. The evangelical church [parish] Arendsee / Altmark included the city of Arendsee and branches with the villages Genzien, Gestien, Schrampe, Zießau, Ziemendorf, Zühlen and Friedrichsmilde (now belongs to Zießau). All villages had their own church with a churchyard. The baptisms (~), marriages (oo) and funerals (□) took place in the church or churchyard of the place. Johann Friedrich and his children were baptized in the church in Ziemendorf.
