Moritz was born in 1982 in Schwenningen, Germany. He attended the protestant kindergarten in Trossingen and attended the primary school "Friedensschule" during 1986-1990, and graduated from the local high school (Gymnasium) in 2001 as best student of the year.
After highschool, Moritz did a voluntary service in Portici near Naples, Southern Italy in 2001-2002 where he worked in a social institute (orphanage, kingergarten, primary school) as assistant to a bus driver, as teacher, and as cleaner of the institute's park (Casa Materna, situated in the former summer residence of the prince of Monaco on the coastline South of Naples).
Moritz studied for one semester Philosophy, Provincial Roman Archeology, and Economy at the University of Freiburg/Breisgau, and then changed to the University of Mannheim to study business administration where he graduated as "Diplom Kaufmann" (corresponds to Master of Science MSc) with additional qualification in Italian history, literature, language and economy. Moritz studied and worked abroad for one year in St. Petersburg, Russia (Finec State University 2005) and for half a year in Lima, Peru (Universidad del Pacifico, 2007). In Russia he met his future wife Tiina, and after graduating in 2008 he went to search for a job in Finland. Initially he worked in the German school in Helsinki as replacement teacher for a few months before joining the global company Wärtsilä as management trainee in the Helsinki headquarter. For Wärtsilä he then worked for five years in canton Zurich, Switzerland from 2010-2015 and for 2,5 years in Singapore until 2017, mostly as international project manager in Logistics and Change Management. Tiina and Moritz with their dog Napoleon then moved to Innsbruck, Austria where he took a job as IT consultant in Logistics , and then worked for the global company Tyrolit in the IT department.
Moritz has brown, slightly curled hair, and brown eyes. His hobbies are football, indoor hockey, chess, running, wood working and furniture design. He is interested in history and politics. He knows how to fix bikes and is in general quite a handyman. He is fluent in seven languages.
