Biography

Anton was born 1802 in Ittersdorf, just three weeks or so before his father died. In 1825, Anton Schmidt married Catharina Dillinger of Bedersdorf, Saarland. Their son Christoph was buried in Ittersdorf at the Catholic Church in 1842. The rest of the family immigrated by way of New York Harbor, aboard "The Sweden", in the summer of 1847. They settled down to farming, just to the northwest of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
