Biography

Roselyn C. Smith (Schmidt) was born 6 March 1892, in Germany. The daughter of George Schmidt and Johanna Mauff. She married Joseph Tatnall 25 Sep 1917 at the Guilford Dutch Reformed Church in Libertyville, NY. Joseph and Rosalyn had two sons, Joseph and Phillip, between 1918 and 1921. Roselyn was widowed at 34 and never remarried. In addition to her two sons, with Joseph, Rosalyn raised Helen Thompson the child produced out of wed lock by her half-brother Walter Brandt. She died on January 27, 1985, in Wilmington, Delaware, at the age of 92, and was buried in Graceland Memorial Park, New Castle, Delaware.
