ACCORDING TO FAMILY records and my 1st hand knowledge Gladys Martha Schmidt was born on July 22, 1926, in Hubbard, Saskatchewan, the child of Jacob and Wanda. She married John Clifford Gilhooly on September 3, 1946, in Saskatchewan. They had two children during their marriage. She died on August 8, 2003, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

OBITUARY GILHOOLY, Gladys GILHOOLY Gladys Martha Gilhooly (nee Schmidt) late of Saskatoon, SK passed away on Friday, August 8, 2003 at Stensrud Lodge. Gladys was born July 17, 1926 on the family a farm in Hubbard, Saskatchewan. She later married Clifford, Gilhooly on September 3, 1946 and moved toTrail, BC, where they raised their two children. Galdys was predeceased by her husband, Clifford in 1978; her parents, Jacob and Wanda Schmidt; and one brother, Erwin Schmidt. After Clifford's death, she moved to Kelowna,Yorkton, and then to Saskatoon where she resided at Elim Lodge until she was struck with A.L.S. While living at Trail and Yorkton, she was employed in retail. After moving into Elim Lodge in Saskatoon, SK, she enjoyed the many activities there and made many friends. She also enjoyed and excelled at painting pictures mainly of birds and animals. While in Saskatoon, SK, Gladys enjoyed spending time with both of her grandchildren. Gladys is survived by her son, Duane Gilhooly of Whistler, BC; daughter Denise (Dave) Smith of Choiceland, SK; two grandchildren, Joshua and Jasmine Smith; one sister, Hilda (Art) Hill of Melville, SK; three brother, Albert (Emma) Smith of Armstrong, BC, Edward (Pat) Smith of Coquitlam, BC, and Gordon (Vi) Schmidt of Regina, SK; one uncle, Bill (Arvilla) Parno of Saskatoon, SK; Hillcrest Memorial Garden Cemetery.
