Biography

Marie Madeleine Schmidt
Maria Magdelena, daughter of Johann Adam SCHMIDT and Anna Maria MAYER was born on October 1, 1714 and baptized on October 3, 1714 in Stebben, Baden, Germany. Her sponsors were Georg Schnebelin and Magdalena (sp. Jacob Ziegler)[1]
Magdelaine died between 12 April 1781, when she sponsored Pierre Charles LeBouef at his baptism,[2] and November 1796, when her husband Francisco Domingo LeBoeuf was buried on November 2. Francisco is described as a widower.[3][4]
We first learn of the family in Louisiana during the census of 1724 of the German Coast and again in 1727:[5]
No. 46: Adam Smitz, widower, 44 years old, native of Isnen in Suevia, Lutheran, shoemaker; a daughter of nine years, [this woman] eight verges of terrain on which he has been since two years. He has harvested this year four barrels of rice. He works at his occupation making galoshes.
July 1, 1727, on the left bank ascending, were found Adam Schmitte, widower, and one child.
