Note N52Witness for marriage Clara and Edger F. Dirr were Ollone Alder and Francisca Schmitt. Clara lived in Huntington, Indiana. Her first husband may be buried there. After her first husband died, Clara lived with Rosa and Killian Vorndran on Lafayette street or DeWald. Clara married William Wyss and helped raise his many children. William Wyss's daughter, Henrietta married Clara's nephew, Adam Schmitt. The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Monday, September 6, 1954, page 2:8. Mrs. Clara Wyss, 71, a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, died at 8:30 a.m. yesterday in St. Joseph's Hospital where she had been a patient two days. A resident of 601 St. Martin St., Mrs. Wyss had been ill two weeks. Her husband, William, died in 1938. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers Sodality, the Third Order of St. Frances, the St. Charles Mission Society, and the Daughters of Isabella. Surviving are three sons, Phillip, Milwaukee, Wis.; Sylvester and Raymond, Fort Wayne, four daughters, Mrs. Emma Rowley, Mrs. Henrietta Schmitt, Mrs. Bernice Phillipp and Mrs. Rosemary Belot, all of Fort Wayne,; a sister, Mrs. Frances Hoog, Fort Wayne; three brothers, Adam P. Schmitt and John Smith, Fort Wayne, and Joseph Smith, Seattle, Wash. 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the Mungovan & Sons Mortuary, where friends may call after 7 p.m. today. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home and at 9:30 in the church, the V. Rev. Msgr. John Bapst officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery. The Christian Mothers Sodality will meet in the funeral home Tuesday after church services, while the Daughters of Isabella will hold services at 7:30 p.,m. Tuesday.
