Matthias Schmitz was born on 24 Feb 1758 in Obermendig, Mayen, Trier, Heiliges Römisches Reich, son of Anton Schmitz ( - 1775) and Anna Catharina (Büsch) Schmitz (1729 - 1809).[1]
