He does not appear in the 1798 census, therefore he must have come from another village. Since his wife's name also doesn't appear in the 1798 census, they may have both been from the same village and moved together to Grimm. I checked the 1798 census records for a Johann Tobias Schmuck in any records, and his name does not appear anywhere. I also check under alternate spelling Schmunck and Schmick, with no luck.
