Biography

This profile is part of the Schnatterly Name Study.

Miles was born 12 Sep 1833 in Nicholson Township, Pennsylvania, the son of John Schnatterly and Melinda (Kendall) Schnatterly.

He also farmed his father's 111-acre farm. He made 2 trips "out west," in 1863 and 1866, and for a time worked as a miner in Montana. He married his cousin Mary Jane Schnatterly ("Jane") 16 Jul 1865. In 1870, he moved with his family to McDonough County, Illinois where he worked as a farmer and carpenter. He returned to the Pennsylvania farm in 1873. He was a deacon of the Oak Hill Baptist Church, and was a member of the Odd Fellows. ^[1]

Some time before 1900, he moved back to Illinois.
