As a young child, travelled with his family from Pennsylvania to settle in the area now known as Doon, Ontario. Following his marriage, he moved to and worked a farm near Freeport where he stayed until his death. This was 267 acres comprising Lot 13 of Beasely's Broken Front (BBF) plus some ajoining land from the west portion of Lot 20 BBF given to him by his father on 28 June 1823. This land was in the possession of his son Elias by 1861.
It appears as though he also was in possession of Lot 141 of the German Company Tract, receiving it from his father in 1832 but was out of the family by 1861. This 83-acre plot is now the area to the south of Bleams Road on either side of Gehl Place in southern Kitchener. He had also receieved 20 acres from Lot 6 BBF from his father on 28 June 1823. Again, this land was out of the family by 1861. The location of the 20 acres from the much larger Lot 6 is unknown but is somewhere in the area of Limerick Road in modern Preston.
Buried at the Blair Cemetery in Cambridge, Ontario.
