Johannes and his wife, Philippina, Joseph, Marie, and Theresa came to New York from Germany on March 4, 1882 on the ship Nederland, which sailed out of Antwerp, Belgium. Johannes was born on 24 June 1845 at Rheinzabern, Germany to Martin Schneider and Maria Schuschu.[1] He was married to Philipina Steiner on 17 September 1872 at Rheinzabern, Germany.[2] Johannes was a shoemaker in Rheinzabern and the family eventually settled in Marathon County, Wisconsin. He died 6 June 1887 in Schofield, Wisconsin - three months before his youngest son was born.
