Joseph was born in Rheinzabern, Germany in 1873 to Johannes Schneider and Philipina Steiner. Joe came to the U.S. with his family as a young boy in 1882 from Germany. He was married to Auguste Bertha Schmidt and they had four sons. Joe died in 1926 at Wausau, Marathon, Wisconsin.
