Biography

Johann Dieterich was born about 1662 in Westerberg, Bochum, Nordrhein-Westfalen, estimated from marriage date. He was the son of Anthonius Schneider and Christina (N) Schneider.

Per Jones: "This prominent Hudson Valley family was documented in several places in the Westerwald: 1) at 5238 Altstadt/Hachenburg (33 km. n.e. of Neuwied; Chbks. begin 1661); 2) at 5238 Hachenburg (1/2 km. e. of Altstadt; Chbks. begin 1598, Ref., but terrible gaps); 3) at 5419 Dierdorf (19 km. n.e. of Neuwied; Chbks. begin 1676); and at 5419 Wolferlingen (14 km. e. of Dierdorf), entries in registers of 5419 Maxsain (5 km. s.w. of Wolferlingen; Chbks. begin 1694). The father of the emigrant Johann Dieterich was Anthonius Schneider, whose house appeared on the 1694 Family List of Wolferlingen (the notation implying that Anthonius may have been Cath.)"[1]

He married Anna Maria Dunschmann in 1684 Nieder Hattert, Germany. Per Jones: [He]" s/o Tonges Schneider from Wolferlingen - now Hofmann in the castle of Hachenburg, md. Anna Maria, d/o Adam Dunschmann at Nieder Hatert, 24. Trin.: 1684 (Altstadt/Hachenburg Chbk.)"[1]

He died in 1719 in Livingston Manor, Albany, New York.

Is there a possible mistake in the birthdate of Johann Dieterich?? If he was truly born in 1670, he would have married at age 14. His son Johann Wilhelm b. 1680, would have been born when Schneider-318 was only 10 years old, before his purported parents were married. Something doesn't make sense; maybe an unwise merge somewhere created a problem. Daughter Anna Elisabetha is also born in Bayern, near the Bodensee....too far south of the Westerwald to make her a child of Johann Dieterich.

Schneider-9745 and Schneider-318 appear to represent the same person because: These two are clearly the same person. I am deferring to the account from Jones in the fuller profile.

I initiated an Unmerged Match" for Schneider-318 & Schneider-9745 because I believe they are the same person. One profile lacks more info but they both have the same name, same wife and marriage date listed and the only daughter on one profile is listed in the profile with the full roster. I am hoping a profile manager will see this and fix so I don't edit anyone's work. Thanks, Becky
