Biography

Rosina Katharina Schneider was born 4 Oct 1833 in Alfdorf, Welzheim, Württemberg, Germany. She was the daughter of Johannes Schneider and Catharina Heinle.[1]

Rosina's mother died when she was 16 years old in Dec 1849 in Alfdorf, Germany. Rosina married Johann Ludwig Allmandinger sometimes before 1856.

Rosina and Lewis had a son, George Allmandinger, born 23 April 1856 in Alfdorf, Württemburg, Germany.[1] Rosina's father died in 1856 when she was 22 years old.

Rosina, Lewis and son George left Germany for America on 26 Oct 1856. During the trip, baby George died and was buried at sea. Rosina and Lewis arrived in Baltimore, Maryland on 2 Mar 1857.

The family settled in Butler County, Ohio. The couple then had two children: John Louis Allmandinger born 24 May 1857 and Michael Allmandinger born 16 Mar 1859.

The family was living in St Clair, Butler county, Ohio in the 1860 Census. This included, Lewis and Rosina, children Louis and Michael and a female child, age 4, named "Flora Thompson." The family surname is written/interpreted on the census as "Imondinger." [2]

Lewis and Rosina then had two more children: Katherina Allmandinger born 1 Sept 1860 and John W Allmandinger born 26 Nov 1862.

On 11 Aug 1863, their daughter Katharina drowned in a "slop barrel." They had three more son's born in Butler County, Ohio: Jacob Edward Allmandinger born 18 Dec 1864, William Carl Allmandinger born 3 Sep 1867 and Frederick Allmandinger born 12 Sept 1869.

In the US 1870 Census, the family was living on a farm in Wayne, Butler county, Ohio. The family included: Lewis and Rosina with children: John Louis, Michael, John, Jacob, William Carl and Frederick.[3]

Two more children were born in Butler County, Ohio: Mary Anna Allmandinger born 9 May 1872 and Magdalena A Allmandinger born 3 Sept 1874.

In the 1880 US Census, the family was living in Black Creek, Mercer county, Ohio. Lewis was working as a farm hand. The family now included Lewis and Rosina with children: Louis, Michael, John, Jacob, William Carl, Frederick, Mary and Lena.[4]

In Dec 1883, son Michael committed suicide. On 8 April 1888, Rosina's husband Lewis died. In the 1900 US Census, Rosina is living next door to her son William Carl and his family in Black Creek, Mercer county, Ohio.[5]

On 28 Feb 1906, Rosina's son John W died. In the 1910 US Census, Rosina "Rosa" was living on her own in Black Creek, Mercer county, Ohio.[6]

Rosina died 12 Jan 1915 in Mercer County, Ohio. She was buried in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Chattanooga, Mercer County, Ohio.[7]
