The earliest information discovered regarding our Schneider/Snyder ancestors is from an article about William R. Snyder in a "History of York County, Pennsylvania" by George Prowell, published in 1907. [1] Background information in the article states that William's grandfather, whose given name is not stated, came from Germany where the name was spelled Schneider. It further states that this unnamed ancestor, who died about 1816, had three sons and two daughters. Names of sons are given as William, Jessie, and Jacob. [2]
He passed away about 1816 in Hopewell Township, Pennsylvania.
Father of Jacob Snyder, born 14 Jun 1809 and christened at (now) Saint John's Lutheran Church, Hopewell Township, York County, Pennsylvania. [3]
