Christina and her husband Christoph had seven children, the youngest who was 3 years old, when they decided to immigrate to Denmark. The family left the processing center in Altona in Holstein on 14 June 1762, arriving in Flensburg 5 days later. [6] He told Danish authorities he and his wife, Christina Schoch, were from Weiler, near Brackenheim in Württemberg. Also traveling with him were his seven children:[6]

  • Johann Jakob Legler, born 1739
  • Christoph Friedrich Legler, born 1742
  • Salomon Legler, born 1744
  • Carl Legler, born 1747
  • Johann Adam Legeler, born 1750
  • Sophia Christina, born 1752
  • Johann Georg Legeler, born 1759

While in Denmark, the couple had their eighth child, Maria Barbara, born in 1764, born in Colony 20 Westscheide near Gottorf. [7] [6] When farming proved to be too difficult in the southern Danish marshlands, the family decided to immigrate to Russia. Christoph and his son Salomon eventually settled in Dönhof, while son Carl settled in nearby Grimm. Christoph is listed in the first census of Dönhof.

1767 Dönhof Census [7]

It's unknown where eldest sons Christoph Friedrich and Johann Jakob settled. Salomon was in Dönhof but in a separate household. Carl moved to nearby Grimm. Sophia Christina was likely married and living in another household.
