Debora was baptized on 14 April 1742 in the Reformed Dutch Church of Machackemack, recorded as the child of Thomas Schoonhoven and Marya Westfael. Witnesses were Cornelis Westfael and Catharina Cole. This baptism was deemed invalid due to a problem with the ordination of the domine, and as a result she was baptised again on 21 June 1747. She was one of 20 children baptized that day, most of them repeat baptisms.[1][2]
