Our vision is to build a collaborative tree with one profile per person. The farther back you go, it's likely you will find duplicate profiles to link into, so it's a good idea to do a search before you create a new profile.
Do you have Royal Ancestors? If so, they are already here! Please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their already existing profiles.
WikiTree strives to be a fun, collaborative, productive site. It's also different than what many people are used to. Please take advantage of the Help Menu in the upper right hand corner, our G2G Forum and of course, our Mentors :)
Thank you for your decision to contribute. WikiTreers have all sorts of skills, but one common interest - genealogy. I would recommend first looking around and become familiar with the various functions.
The main menu, located at the top right of the page, offers access to the most important features amongst them your Wiki-ID. In the help section »G2G« at the bottom, youll find the WikiTree online help. You can ask all sorts of questions, technical and others, and because WikiTree is worldwide, there is almost always someone online, who can give a qualified answer. Good luck! - And don't forget to sign the Honor Code. Pleasure to have you onboard.
My grand mother was a Dillenschneider. The name comes from a small village in Lorraine/ France (now) called DABO. All Dillenschneider come from there. The name means the one who saws boards. In the past, this part of France was German, so Dillenschneider is a German name. It means the "board sawer". Normally this kind of job is called Dillensaeger in German, but in Dabo (former Dagsburg when belonging to Germany) it was called a "Dillenschneider" - god knows why - but this is why we know that all Dillenschneider, Dielenschneider, Thielenschneider, Dilenschneider come all from this small village.
If you want to makes researches on them, pls key in "tables décennales Dabo" and you will find them all.
All the best to my cousins ! Happy findings !
Marlene
