Biography

"Now follows further concerning Christian Schott who came to Braunfels and lived there very comfortably. He had sons and daughters and left a son named Heinrich Schott ; again this Heinrich left behind him a son also named Heinrich Schott. After this Heinrich 8 there lived one Emmerich Schott, a noble and upright man. He was for about three-and-thirty years ' rent-meister* (steward) at Braunfels till his death in 1484.

Johann Schott proceeds to tell in detail of the sons and daughters of Emmerich, and again of their children and grand-children. We are concerned with only two of the five sons : Johann of Diedenhofen, the progenitor of the English family, and Thomas the youngest son, who married a lady of an old knightly family named Anna Reinolin Peters, by whom he was the father of the writer of the history.
