Biography

From Deborah (Lang-3685) Westwood: 1. Our OG: Rudolph Schott. Married to Anna Apollonia, parents of Johann Daniel Schott born in 1695. In 1717 Rudolph is a “co-seat in a ‘court protocol’, i.e. in the highest village committee.”(Knittelsheim book) He is referred to as a Scabino/Scabine in records in Knittelsheim.

2. Maria Salome Schott, born 16 May 1669 in Speyer, to Hanss/Johann George Schott and Anna Rosina. She married in Knittelsheim in 1693 to Clement Printz.

3. Hanss Bernhard/t Schott. The Knittelsheim book says he’s the earliest recorded Schott in Knittelsheim, although that’s actually Maria Salome in 1693 from what I can find. Bernhardt also appears in a 1699 record, and is listed in 1707 in Knittelsheim as inhabitant. How does he fit in to all this???

Two quotes from the 1200 Years of Knittelsheim book:

“In 1724 Daniel Schott appears as chairman of the "village court", his brother Rudolph as assessor ("lawyer").”

“When he [Daniel] died in 1747, he was placed in the churchyard in a particularly beautiful tombstone. His brother and other members of his family were also buried…”

From these passages I’m concluding Rudolph had another son – also named Rudolph – either with Anna Apollonia before she died in 1698 or with his second wife Margreth Klein.

So, who were these Schotts?
