Biography

Volga German
Philipp Schott was a Volga German.
Philipp Schott has German Roots.

Family #39 in 1798 Grimm census.
Family #35 and #208 in 1834 Grimm census.

Johann Philipp Schott was born around 1795 in Grimm, Saratov, Russia, to Andreas Schott and his wife Christina Bender Schott. He was the second oldest of four boys who all had the first name Johann. Clearly, their middle names were their everyday names. In the 1834 census, he identified himself simply as Philipp.

Head of the Household Andreas Schott, age 30
Wife Christina Bender Schott, age 30, from Dönhof

Philipp married his first wife, name unknown, before 1817, and their first child was born in 1818, a daughter named Anna Maria. Their second child, Friedrich Jakob, was born in 1821. There was a six year gap between Friedrich Jakob and Philipp's next child whose mother was designated as Philipp's second wife in the 1834 census. Philipp's first wife passed away before 1826, her death possibly related to a pregnancy where the child was lost. He married second wife Katharina and they had their first child together in 1827. By the time of the 1834 census, they had two more children. Originally part of his father's household #35, Philipp was made head of his own household at some point prior to 1834. He and his wife lived their with his five children.

By 1857, he was no longer listed with his family; presumably he had passed away and his son Friedrich Jakob was head of the family. [4] Friedrich's half brothers still lived with him in the family home, but his sisters were absent. They were probably married and living with other families.

No additional information about him is known at this time.
