Biography

There's a lot to cover here, I'll have to do it a bit at a time. My earliest Ancestors in the Americas that I have found are Jan Styker (Strycker) and Cornelius Berrien. I will rough in information on them in a bit.

Yes Bill that sounds right. They are a military family. Issac Shelby took kings mountain through the adjoining Ball property. Changed the war for the colonies.

Balls are in jamestown. 1615.

Ya know what drivers me crazy(er)? I can't find the thread that shows our conversations. Anyway, This appears to show the father but has no concrete evidence of the mother. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ball-5918

Bill I looked at Thomas Ball and it shows no Father or mother, Pretty sure he had some and that is the lines missing from the relationship finder, I believe I will try and find his Father.

The Father is Thomas Ball and perhaps through a 2nd wife, I Get that source from the Bledsoe Quarterly who claim the relationship through her mother or Thomas balls Wife? have never verified it before.

I will have to run a few lines here

Hello Bill!

Welcome to the New Netherland Settlers Project. Please visit our FAQ and feel free to ask any questions you may have. If you're looking for your ancestors that might already be on Wikitree, check out our Immigrants and Progenitors page, though it is not quite complete and does not reflect all of the profiles that already exist. Lastly, here's a quick guide to sources that might help you in your search.

Cheers! Carrie

New Years Resolution: Add at least one new source to every Cantrell/Cantrill profile you manage.

Happy New Year!

Having grown up in the 60s, I can tell you right now I understand why we don't even have a space program today.

Looking at the coding used by sites, I'm amazed that anything gets done. To anyone who is frustrated that I don't seem to be as quick with things as you, my apologies. Navigating this site is like trying to thread a needle on a roller coaster in an earthquake during a hurricane. Right when I think I have it figured out... nope. Not just here, everywhere. Seems there's no one common logic that pervades thought among the skript kiddies who make these sites. Frustrated, but still trying to chug along and get things done. Please be patient. I've hacked some mighty complex "malicious software" in my days, and these places make that look like a piece of cake.

Hi Bill,

I have started a Cantrell One Name Study for all members of the Cantrell/Cantrill family lines. The purpose of this study is to work together to establish an accurate Cantrell Family tree by using the best possible sources available for documentation. We wish to identify all family members that have ever used a particular surname whose name may appear in all manner of research documents. Would you be interested in joining the study? If so, please visit the Cantrell Name Study Page for more information and how to join.

No problem Bill, nothing needs to be done anymore. I went ahead and completed this merge of our Strycker ancestor way back in February.
