SEVEN MONTANA STUDENTS KILLED.
Bozeman, Mont. Feb. 13 -- (AP) -- Seven Montana State college students were killed in an auto which plunged over a mountain cliff near here Sunday night. An eighth was hurt critically. The dead -- Two coeds and five members of a Sigma Chi fraternity basketball team -- were: PHYLLIS BIRKELAND, Fort Benton. DONALEE McRAE, Forsyth. HARVEY M. ELDE, Scobey. GERALD W. EARLY, Laurel. JOHN W. STINCHFIELD, Evansville, Indiana. JAMES K. SCHRUMPF, Glendive. LESLIE GREENWELL, Butte. CHARLES S. OLSON, of Helena, is hospitalized here in critical condition. Sheriff-Coroner Charles E. Rice said one of the girls was driving when the car plunged off U.S. Highway 10, west of Bozeman. The car hurtled over a bluff and "pancaked" on Northern Pacific railway tracks.
