Hi Donna, Have you registered for the July 2024 Connect-a-Thon? It's a great time to add more Morse profiles. (And others, of course.)

Hi Donna,

We'd love to have you participate in the Morse One Name Study. Here is the page with general information: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Morse_Name_Study

And here are the project categories https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Morse_Name_Study The categories are easy to add with the pull-down menu.

Are any of your Morse profiles descendants of one of the Morses in the Puritan Migration Project? We have categories for them.

If you have any questions, please contact me or ask on the space page.

Thank you, Kathryn Morse

Hi Donna,

While watching the PGM Project's activity feed, I noticed that you'd added a very large 'cut & paste' section to the profile for Thomas Osman. WikiTree recommends not using copied text. Instead, information like this should be reworded and summarized and sources cited for the specific data that is being entered in the biograpy.

Perhaps you didn't notice that this was a Project Manage Profile when you made the edits, but any profile receiving this large of a change would need collaboration with the profile manager(s). If you'd like to create a Free Space Page and write up a new biography for us, we'd be happy to review it and make additions to the profile.

Regards,
Bobbie

I'm not entirely sure how to redo all that. It does support all the necessary sources and parent child relationships. Can you recommend a better solution?

Write up a full biography, and for each detail cite the original sources inline. An example is here: Susanna (Riddlesdale) French. You might find the PIP Voyage a good way to learn to do this. But the key is that we cite our sources, and I don't see that the original author of the report has been credited for their work in compiling the report.

Understood. I'll leave it alone for a bit and stew over it. Ah, that name you mentioned...i thought i was related to her till later i found out id been barking up the wrong tree lol. Thanks

Hello Donna, please check your email for a message I sent you on Nov. 17 regarding lack of sources on profiles Garrardus Drake (abt.1685-abt.1797) and Thomas Doxsey (abt.1681-). Both are pre-1700 profiles, so they require extra attention to sources. ~ Deb
I never received an email. I am working on it.

Hi Donna,

I'm so pleased that you are keen to achieve historical accuracy in your research work.

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles!

It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Thanks Pam. I'm pretty familiar with how DNA works. With DNA I was able to hunt down my son's biological father and my mother's biological father.

Hi Donna,

I am so sorry for typing your name incorrectly and also for the loss of your father. I have also lost my dad and know how painful that is, so please accept my condolences and my sympathies.

Once again, I am truly sorry for incorrectly calling you by your father's name.

Please have a good weekend.

Welcome Donna!

Thanks for volunteering! I am pleased to confirm and welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration. Don't be afraid to ask questions in our G2G forum and get involved as much or as little as works for you. Be sure to check out the tabs at the very top right hand side of your profile, there is lots to discover!

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do!

Happy tree climbing

When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree?
