Walter Alexander Schurr, 67, was dead on arrival at 6:50 PM Saturday [Dec. 30,1978] at Lafayette Home Hospital. According to Tippecanoe County Coroner William Sholty, death was due to injuries from a fall. Born in Lafayette, he was a graduate of West Point High School. In 1933, he was married, at Green Hill, to Inez Marie Garrison who died in July, 1978.
Mr. Schurr had lived in the Lafayette area most of his life. He was route supervisor for Lafayette Linen and Coverall, Division of Crown Laundry Co., for 27 years before retiring two years ago. He had also worked for Sunshine Farms for many years prior to working for Crown Laundry. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, was treasurer and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 347, and a former member of the Eagles Drill Team and Eagles Degree Team.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley (Mrs. Elmer) Muse of Sheridan, IN, and Nancy (Mrs. Millard) Habegger of Boulder, CO; one son, Robert E. Schurr of Clinton, MD; one sister, Helen (Mrs.James) Cors of Lafayette; four brothers, Alfred Schurr of Chebanse, IL, Paul Schurr of Fowler, Richard Schurr and Hans Schurr, both of Lafayette; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Preceded indeath by a daughter, Judy, and two brothers, George and Raymond.
