Biography

Gertrude / Gitel Schwartz was born about 1874 in Katary, Tarnow, Austria, the daughter of Abraham Schwartz and Beile Reich. ^[1]

She sailed from Danzig, Poland, and arrived 4 Oct 1927 in New York City, with children Samson 19, Beile & Rywka 16, Meilech 15, Moses 10. ^{[2] [3]}

In 1930 census, she is living in Brooklyn, age 56, with husband Abraham, and children David, Louis, Sam, Bella, Ruth, Max, Morris (note: maybe Max written over Morris by census taker, due to birthdates being backwards). ^{[4] [5]}

In 1940 census, she is living in Brooklyn, age 62, with husband Abraham, and children Max, Ruth. ^{[6] [7]}

She died 3 Apr 1944, in Kings, New York, ^{[8] [9]} and was buried in Mt Hebron cemetery, in Flushing, New York. ^{[10] [11]}
