Johann Schweitzer is Notable.

Dr. Johann ( Johannes) Friedrich (Fredericus) Schweitzer usually known as Helvetius, was born or baptised on 17 January 1630 in Cöthen, Anhalt, the son of Dr. Balthasar Schweitzer and Anna Joostdr. Braun (or Braunin or Brouwman). [1]

Marriage and children

On 30 June 1658 in 's-Gravenhage, he married Johanna Pels, daughter of Jan Barendszoon Pels and Mayken Six. They became the parents of sixteen children of whom only four sons and four daughters grew up to adulthood.

Johannes Fredericus is notorious for the story that he actually carried out transmution of lead into gold. It was said that he had been the physician of the Prince of Orange and to have known Baruch Spinoza. He wrote many books of which one is Vitulus Aureus (The Golden Calf), published in 1667. [3]

Death and burial

His wife died in March 1709 and was buried on 25 March 1709 in 's-Gravenhage. Dr. Johannes Fredericus Schweitzer died on 29 August 1709 in 's-Gravenhage and was buried there on 3 September 1709. [4]
