Biography
William was born abt 1816 in Kilbarchan, Renfrewshire, Scotland, possibly son of John Scobie and Joanna Murdoch.
William Scobie married Margery (Robertson) Pollock on or after 18 Oct 1836 in Abbey, Renfrewshire, Scotland.[1][2]
In 1841 William, age 26, was on Johnstone Graham St, Paisley Low, Renfrewshire. He was a C Wever.[3] William's wife is listed as Elizabeth, not Margery. 3 Pollock step-children are listed, as well as 2 Scobie children.
In 1851 William, age 35, was the head of household in Canal Bank bankfoot, Paisley Abbey, Renfrewshire. He was a Hand Loom Weaver (silk).[4]
In 1861 William, age 45, was the head of household at 1 West Campbell St, Paisley High Church, Renfrewshire. He was a Plain Silk Weaver.[5]
In 1871 William, age 55, was the brother of Robert Scobie at 3 Duke Street, Abbey Burgh, Renfrewshire. He was a Silk Weaver.[6]
In 1881 William, age 65, was the brother-in-law of Hellen Scobie at 3 Duke Street, Paisley Abbey, Renfrewshire. He was a Weaver.[7]
William Scobie, age 70, died in 1888. The death was registered in Paisley. Mother's maiden name was Murdoch.[8]
