A long illness resulted in the death of Mrs. Effie Scoggin Bowen, 54, Saturday afternoon at her residence on Route 1, Raleigh.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 4 p.m. from Cohay Pentecostal church near Raleigh, with the Rev. John Moseley of Moss Point, officiating. Assisting were the Rev. Hinton Horn and the Rev. W. H. Middleton of Raleigh.
Interment was in Merchant Cemetery with six close friends of the family serving as pallbearers. Memory Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bowen was a lifelong resident of Cohay Community, and a member of the Cohay Pentecostal church.
She is survived by her husband, S. B. Bowen: three step-sons, David Colon Bowen, J. C. Bowen and Collie Bowen, all of Raleigh; four sisters, Mrs. Lena Rogers and Mrs. T. J. Woodard. Hattiesburg, and Mrs. O. J. Ainsworth, Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, A. C. Scoggin, Mize; Woodrow Scoggin, Atlanta.[2]
