Biography

Daniel was born in 1860. He is the son of Robert Scollay and Margaret Reidy.

It is reported that D. C. Scollay, a fisherman residing at Halfmoon Bay, and son of an old resident there perished in a squall off Paterson's Inlet on Saturday. Harming, the master of the ketch Anne, seeing a squall coming became apprehensive of Scollay's safety, be being in an open sailing boat laden with fish and ballasted. Banning made for the boat, but the squall was too quick and the boat capsized and sank, No sign of the occupant was seen, although the Anne cruised about till dark, the sails being badly damaged. Scollay, who was married about two years ago, leaves a widow and one child, and a son by a former marriage who is now a young man.
