Walter Scott, the son of Sir William Scott of Kirkurd and Grisel Betoun, was born in 1549.[1]
He was made Captain of Newark Castle between 1566 and 1579, and rebuilt Branxholm Castle after it had been blown up by the English army in 1570.[1]
Walter Scott died at Branxholm on 17 April 1574, aged 25.[1][2]
Walter married Margaret Douglas on 19 January 1567/68 with whom he had three children:[1]
