Erneton was so named as he was the first baby born in Erneton Street, Enoggera.[1](Note: the suburb is now known as Newmarket.) He was the third child of William Scott and Florence Bryant, and was born on 2 April 1907.[2] He attended Newmarket State School.[1][3]
In 1913, his family moved to the Fat Hen Creek area, near Kilkivan,[4][5]
where his father took up dairy farming. Ernie followed in his father's footsteps, initially working as a labourer on a neighbour's dairy farm,[1] then purchasing a property at "Bymount", Rossmore Road, where he spent the rest of his life. He also owned some land on Black Snake Road.[6] After his death, his property was sold and subdivided, and new roads formed on his former property are named Scott Road and Bymount Road.[6]
At the age of 25, Erneton married Edna Dorothy Dean, youngest daughter of Alfred Dean and Louisa Jones on 16th August 1932 at the Presbyterian Church, Gympie.[7] Three sons were born to them.[8]
Erneton died on 25th January 1987 in the Gympie hospital, at the age of 79 years, and is buried in the Kilkivan cemetery.[8]
