Lawson died prior to 1850 as he isn't living with Martha and the children in the 1850 census:

Scott-7356 and Scott-1518 appear to represent the same person because: These two individuals appear to share many of the same vital facts. I am related to Lawson Scott through his son James Lafayette Scott and have found William Thomas (Thompson) Scott to be his brother. They are both listed in the 1850 Census in the household of Lawson Scott.
