Biography

Sir John Scott, 3rd Bt. was the son of Sir Patrick Scott, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Scott.^[1][2]

He married Christian Nisbet, daughter of William Nisbet of Dirleton^[2][3] and Jean Bennet on 4 Apr 1714.^[4] They had issue four sons and a daughter, including:

1. Patrick, b. 14 Nov 1720^[5][6]
2. Sir William, 4th Bt., b. 26 Feb 1723,^[7][8] d. 16 Jun 1769^[2]
3. John. b. May 1729 took the name of Nisbet to inherit lands of Craigintinnie John Scott-Nisbet of Craigintinnie, baptised 15th May 1729. Died at Edinburgh 31st December 1764. Married, 21st December 1756, Margaret, daughter of Chambres Lewis, collector of customs, Leith. His wife, Mrs Margaret Scott-Nisbet, died at Portobello 2nd November 1828, aged 88. He was the last Nisbet of Craigintinnie, and in 1762 he sold the lands to William Miller.

He died on 21 February 1746 in Edinburgh.^[1]
