Biography

Lola Ione Scott was born June 8, 1903 in Oregon (probably Baker), the first of six children born to Walt and Julia Scott - 5 girls and 1 boy. Her younger siblings in birth order were: Erma, Katherine, Warren, Ada and Nellie

Lola Scott was married to Frank Mack Warren when they were both 17 years old. 2/23/1921

During most of Frank and Lola's marriage, they lived in Hereford. In his memoirs Frank states, "She was very talented with her hands. She made hair switches out of natural hair; cut men's and women's hair; gave permanents, and earlier gave Marcel waves."

Frank also tells how Lola had to have all of her teeth pulled at age 36. She paid a $20 deposit for her Baker City dentist to make her a set of false teeth, but when she went to pick them up 'they were big enough to fit a cow' and she couldn't get them into her mouth. The dentist wouldn't re-do them to make them work for her and wouldn't return her money, so she determined to make her own.

She took a mail order course and learned how to make dentures. After making several sets for herself before she perfected them to her satisfaction, she made over 100 sets for other people.

Lola was involved in a car wreck in March of 1945 in Idaho and was airlifted to Portland for medical care, but succumbed to her injuries. Her youngest sister was pregnant at the time of her death, and when her sister, Nellie, gave birth, her daughter was named Lola to honor Nellie's eldest sister.

Lola is buried at Mt Hope Cemetery, Baker, Oregon
