He married Helen Lauder, daughter of William Lauder of Hatton^[1] and Agnes Henderson. They had issue:

2. Sir William, 11th of Balwearie d. a 1568^[3][5]

William was still living on 4 Dec 1553.

• MacGregor claims it was a brother, Michael, who married Helen Lauder whilst William married Janet daughter of John Lindsay of Dowhill relict of Andrew Lundy of Balgony.^[4]
