James was born in 1913. He was the son of James Scott and Hattie Rouse. He passed away in 1990.
James Gilford Scott Jr. attended Arkansas Schools until his parents moved to Louisiana. He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1930. Gilford Jr. enrolled in a Radio School at Port Arthur, Texas for a two-year course. He went back to Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1933 and obtained work with Mountain Valley Water Company, managing their springs at Mt. Valley, Arkansas. James Gilford Scott Jr. and Grace Maddox were married on November 3, 1934 in the Grand Avenue Methodist Church, Hot Springs, Arkansas. Their first home was at Mt. Valley . With perseverance and hard work, Gilford Jr. was promoted to manager of Valley Water Co.in Hot Springs where the family has made their home for more than forty years. Gilford Jr. was drafted in the United States Army in 1944 and was stationed in Europe during his service in World War 11. He was given an Honorable Discharge an and returned to his family, and job in Hot Springs.
Gilford Jr. and Grace Scott are quite prominent in Hot Springs. His prestige with Mt. Valley has been most rewarding, as they have sent him to represent the company at various cities throughout United States and to Europe in 1976. Grace went with Gilford to most of conventions and on the European tour. This family - members of Grand Ave. Methodist Church and active in other social groups.
Grace Maddox Scott was born to a well known pioneer family of Arkansas on October 11, 1913. They lived near Hot Springs and Grace graduated from Hot Springs High School. She has held several jobs but did not work after marriage until Gilford Jr. went into World War II. She has not worked regularly since then. Grace does assist a friend in a gift shop, on occasion. Grace is known for her hospitality and devotion to her family. Gilford Jr. and Grace M. Scott are the parents of two children.
Scott-Davis Miss Barbara Sue Scott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Gilford Scott Jr is the bride-elect of Charles W. Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Davis, ail of Hot Springs. Miss Scott. a senior at the University of Arkansas, is a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and Hof Springs Girls' Cotillion Club. Mr. Davis was graduated from the University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, and is now associated wilh Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
