Edward Scott was born in 1845 in Wallbottle OR Newburn, Northumberland, England to Edward Scott and Mary (Ledger) Scott. His birth was registered in Castle Ward, Northumberland in the third quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Ledger.[1]
In 1851 Edward Scott (age 5, At Home) lived at New Row in Wallbottle with his father Edward (44, Coal Miner), mother Mary (41), and five siblings: Thomas (16, Coal Miner), Anne (14), James (10, At Home), Mary Jane (8, At Home), and Elisabeth (1, At Home).[2]
In 1861 Edward Scott (age 16, Coal Miner) lived at New Winning in Newburn with his father Edward (54, Coal Miner), mother Mary (52, House Keeper), and three siblings: Isabella (11, Scholar), James (7, Scholar), and Ann Browell (24, Coal Miners Wife), as well as brother-in-law Robert Browell (22, Coal Miner).[3]
Edward Scott married Jane Robson in 1870. The marriage was registered in Castle Ward in the first quarter of the year.[4]
Edward and Jane had at least six children:
James Scott (1868-) [born before they married, his birth was registered as James Robson - he may have had a different father]
In 1871 Edward Scot (age 26, Coal Miner) lived in Wylam, Northumberland with his wife Jane (27), son James (3), and daughter Mary (0).[5]
In 1881 Edward Scott (age 36, Coal Miner) lived at Ramsays Buildings in Chopwell, Durham with his wife Jane (37) and four children: James (13, Coal Miner), Mary (10, Scholar), Thomas (5), and Edward (3).[6]
Edward Scott passed away before 1891 - his wife was listed as a widow on that census.
