In 1871 the family were all still together, they were living in Woodside, Cumberland, England. John was 27 at the time. [7]
By 1881 John was working as a farm servant on his brother Thomas' farm in Woodside Quarter, Cumberland, England. [8]
John married Mary (Armstrong) Scott in 1887, the marriage was registered in Wigton. John would have been about 43 at the time, Mary was fifteen years younger. [9]
John and Mary had twin daughters Annie and Lizzie the following year, and a son Thomas in 1890.
By 1891 the family had moved to Tallentire, Cumberland, England. [10]
John and Mary had two other sons, John in 1893 and George in 1897.
In 1901 John and Mary were in Tallentire with their five children. [11]
John died on 3 Jul 1902 in Bell Brow, Tallentire, Cumberland, England. [12][13][14]
