Biography

Clement was probably born 1776-1780. A middle name of Allen is not documented (so far), nor are the parents shown at this profile..

Marriage

Clement Scott and Sarah "Sally" Slayden were married by Rev. George Dodson on 25 Nov 1800 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Consent was given by her parents, William and Nancy Slaydon. Surety was posted by Arthur Slaydon.[1]

Name (unverified)

The middle name Allen might have been assumed by some researchers because there is a land grant for a Allen C SCOTT for 200 acres on Sulphur Lick Creek in Cumberland Co., KY dated 5 Apr 1806. [citation needed]

Age and Residence

Assuming that this man moved to central Kentucky:
1810 Barren, Kentucky census for "Chemp" Scott shows only a presumed married couple, not clearly the couple at this profile. [2]

1820 Cumberland County, Kentucky census records for Clement Scott: four younger males and four younger females in household. Oldest male is aged 26-44 (1774-1796 [3] On the same page is Nimrod Scott and Jeremiah Scott.

1830 South of Cumberland River, Cumberland, Kentucky census for Clement Scott: two younger males and six younger females. Oldest male is 50-59 (1771-1780) ([4] Also listed on this page are Nimrod Scott sen, aged 70-80, Joel Scott, 30-40, Jeremiah Scott, 30-40, and Nimrod Scott junr, 30-40, assuming that the oldest in household are the named men (not always the case)

  • Overlap suggests a birth year range of 1776-1780.

Continuing records in 1840 and 1850 show Scotts with similar names but none (so far) matching the conjectured age for this man.

Death

His will was written August 1840 and recorded on page 467 of Will Book C on 6 November of that year. [5]
