Biography

William Grant Scott was born 11 Sep 1866 in New Waterford, Columbiana, Ohio, United States to James C & Margaret Jane Cobb.[1]

W. Grant Scott married L. May Taylor on 04 Sep 1889 in Columbiana, Ohio, United States[2] In 1910, he & his wife Laura May lived in Columbus Ward 4, Franklin, Ohio, United States with his mother in law.[3]

This is a picture of William Grant Scott (9/11/1865-7/6/1952). He became a printer in 1881, moved to Westerville in 1893 and then to Columbus in 1900. Mr. Scott was owner/president of the Franklin Printing Company, Director of the Fidelity Building & Loan Company and also served as president of the Westerville School Board. William had been married twice, first to Laura May Taylor, who died in 1919, and then to Hallie Belle Hoopman in 1922. [4]

William (age 57) married Hallie Belle Hoopman (age 34) daughter of John T. Hoopman & Ella J. Mann on 21 Jun 1922 in Franklin, Ohio, United States[5] In 1920, William G Scott (age 64) and his wife Hallie (age 42) lived in Liberty, Fairfield, Ohio, United States[6] with their daughter. [7]They had moved to her mothers home in Westerville, Blendon Township, Franklin, Ohio, United States by 1940.[8]

William died 06 Jul 1952 in Marion, Franklin, Ohio, United States[9]

Obituary

W. Grant Scott, 86, of Westerville died Sunday at a hospital in Columbus.

A son of Mr. & Mrs. James Scott, he was born in New Waterford in September, 1865 and was formerly employed as a printer by the Magnet Publishing Company, then of New Waterford and at an earlier date worked for the late Ellis Roberts after he established the Valley Echo, East Palestine's first newspaper in 1877.

He married Laura May Taylor in New Waterford and following her death in 1919, he was married to Halley Hoopmann who survives.

A daughter, Margaret Jane Brumbaugh and three grandchildren survive. A son preceded his father in death two years ago.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Wednesday at the New Waterford Methodist Church with burial to be made in the village cemetery.[10]
