Biography

Hazel was born in Franklin County, Alabama, the daughter of James and Leona (Williams) Scott. She was married to Lawrence H. Bennett on Jan. 28, 1943. He preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1988. Hazel had been a resident of Manitou Beach for 25 years, and then moved to Homer. On April 11, 1994, she married Maynard Minier and moved to Onsted. He preceded her in death in May of 2002. She lived four years with her daughter, Judy, in Ypsilanti, Mich., and the last year with her daughter, Sandra, in Levering, Mich. She had worked at Lenawee Medical Care Facility and then later became a live-in caregiver for the elderly. She was a member of the West Rome Baptist Church and the Drive-In Ministries of Devils Lake and Pinellas Park, Fla., a member of the North American Missions, and also attended Gateway Community Church in Onsted. She is survived by two sons, Gary Bennett and Larry (Pam) Bennett Jr., both of Kalamazoo; three daughters, Carolyn Black of Adrian, Sandra (Tom) Foster of Levering and Judy (Robert) Morford of Ypsilanti; 23 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Lawrence Bennett; her second husband, Maynard Minier; eight brothers, four sisters and one great-granddaughter.
