Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Loudoun County Hospital in Sterli ng, Va.
Born Oct. 22, 1955, in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania, USA, he w as the son of Harold G.
Sipes of Hustontown, Pennsylvania, USA, and Teressa Foster-Than os of McConnellsburg.
He was the stepson of the late Teddy Thanos.
He was a self-employed contractor.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He attended Leesburg Baptist Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Rebecca June Sipes of Hillsb oro, Va.; two
sisters, Laura Michelle Foster of McConnellsburg and Mary Hu ston of
Harrisonville, Pennsylvania, USA; three half-sisters, Rhonda Hoff man and Tina Souders, both
of McConnellsburg, and Becky Sipes of Hustontown; and two st epsisters,
Georgeanne Thanos and Laurehda McGee, both of Washington, D. C.; two
brothers, Michael Sipes and Mark Sipes, both of McConnellsbu rg; one
stepbrother, Teddy Thanos of Olney, Md.; and his companio n, Jane Scott
and her children, Michael, Eric and Jennifer Scott of Lincol n.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funer al Home, 322 N.
Second St., in McConnellsburg. The Rev. E. Loy Garber will o fficiate. Burial
will be in Knobsville Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held in Lincoln at a later date.
The family received friends at the funeral home Tuesday fr om 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Michael Sipes Memori al Fund, c/o
Fulton County National Bank, 100 Lincoln Way East, McConnell sburg, PA
17201.

A newly constructed Sideling Hill mountain runaway truck escape was opened for use last week following a final inspection by officials.
The Fulton County Tourist Promotion Agency met on Thursday to review the recent Fall Folk Festival and plan for next years. By all reports it was a successful festival. Large crowds were reported at almost all events.
McConnellsburg State Police are investigating a shooting which occurred at the Sunnyside Trailer Court, McConnellsburg, on Monday. Police reported that Nathan Barthalow, 33, McConnellsburg, was shot in the lower right leg. State police are continuing their investigation and charges are pending.
The Fulton County Little League installed poles and lights on the Little League fields at the Lions Community Park in Mc- Connellsburg.
Specials at the IGA: Hawaiian punch, 69 cents; chuck roast, .59; Pepsi Cola, .69, 8 16-oz. bottles; apples, 3-lb. bag, 79 cents.
