Biography

Daughter of Nelson Scribner and Caroline Blanchard.

Augusta traveled across country several times with her family. She was part of a wagon train that went from Maine to California. She encountered Indians several times and helped with defending the children and others in the wagon train raids. John Neal, her first husband, caught "Gold Fever" and headed West to try his luck. Sarah went with him and until he died in Session, Siskiyou, California on 18 September 1889.

She stayed in California for awhile and then packed up her children, Dora, Carrie, Willie, Maggie, and Lorenzo, and headed back to Maine. After returning to Maine she married second Charles Moore and had one more child
