Fanny was born in 1801, the daughter of Simon L. and Abigail (Gerrish) Scribner, in Otisfield, Cumberland County, Maine.
Evidently Fanny was married 3 times in her life. Her first husband was Samuel Goodale Scribner, the son of Daniel and Sarah B. (Goodale) Scribner. They would have two daughters who both died young:
Elba Scribner (1817–1817)
Prudence Scribner (1819–1819)
At some point before 1837, when Samuel remarried, Fanny and Samuel divorced.
Based upon Fanny's marriage record with Jonathan Cobb in 1865, she must have married a man with the last name Briggs since she is referred to as Mrs. Fanny Briggs.
Jonathan Cobb passed away in 1873. His death record doesn't mention Fanny. The 1870 US Census refers to "Ann" as Jonathan's spouse but it's assumed this is Fanny. No death or burial records for Fanny Cobb have been found.
