Biography

Harvey, or Harry as some called him, was born in 1812, the son of Samuel and Almira (Clark) Scribner, in Delaware County, Ohio.

On September 5, 1841, Harvey married Huldah (Unknown) Newberry, believed to be the widow of Daniel Newberry, who brought 4 children, ranging in age from 6 to 14 years, to the marriage. Harvey and Hulda were married in in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, and would have the following children of their own:

William Henry Scribner (1838–1864)

Samuel M. Scribner (1842–1930)

Francis Marion Scribner (1843–1879)

In around 1842, Harvey and Hulda left Michigan and settled in Marion County, Ohio. Hulda died in around 1845, possibly due to childbirth.

On May 10, 1846, Harvey married his second wife, Sarah Rush, in Marion, Ohio. Harvey and Sarah would have the following five children:

David G. Scribner (1847–1924)

Harrison H. Scribner (1848–1931)

Almira A. (Scribner) Sharp (1850–1900)

Jennie S. (Scribner) Priest (1851–1921)

Mary Etta (Scribner) Mack (1857–1957)

Harvey was a farmer in Marion, Ohio. He would live until 1877, passing away at 65 years of age. His body is buried in the Marion Cemetery in Marion, Marion County, Ohio, along with Sarah's and several other Scribner relatives.
