According to Julie, "I was born here (Fort Collins), and the oral family history story that I grew up hearing was that our branch of Scriven ended up here because of Colonel William Oliver Collins, for which Fort Collins was named. My dad's mother was born Effie Frances Hodges, and her mother was born Julia Ann Collins. My dad says this grandmother (Julia Ann Collins) would tell him the story when he was young that they moved out here because her cousin was the Colonel that Fort Collins was named after. My parents had 6 children (5 are still living) and my father was married once briefly before he met and married my mother, and he had a child from his first marriage (no longer living) Of my fathers 7 children, all were married and have had children of their own, and many of those children are having children and in some cases, grandchildren. However, for such a large group that we are, there are only a few males named Scriven to carry on the name. "
Julie Barrett contacted me when she found out I had listed her great grandparents on WikiTree. She contributed family information from her Scriven family from James E. Scriven on down.
Julie told me that, not only her grandfather, but her brother has the same name as I do, Robert Scriven. Since my daughter's name is Juliane, very close to hers, that's a double coincidence!
The biography for Julie Scriven is empty. What can you add?
