Communication Preferences:
I am interested in communicating with
anyone who shares the same genealogical or historical interests.
Here is my family tree.
Digital Afterlife Instructions : I give my permission upon my inability to continue researching or upon my passing to my family to have first priority, then if they decline the responsibility, the Wikitree staff, to manage the profiles where I act as PM, in any way they see fit, as long as this is in line with the Honor Code and preserves the privacy of living people. 21 June 2020.
I have been doing genealogy research for close to 50 years, ever since my grandfather gifted me a box of family materials that his mother had collected. From then on, I was hooked. I've spent many (happy!) vacation days travelling to sites where my ancestors lived, visiting libraries, court houses and cemeteries to gain information.
I'm really enjoying WikiTree and the chance to present family information and share it with other genealogists.

The next Connect-a-thon will be from 8 am Friday, April 12 to 8 am Monday, April 15th. I hope you will be able to join us. We are again using the new way to register we that was inaugurated in January. This link will take you to the post for the Mid-Atlantic Team:
Hi Anne! I'm the new profile manager for Rebecca Seton Lyles (Seton-587). I noticed you have added John Curson Seton (Seton-588) as her father. I'm also building out my tree on Ancestry, and in my research have not been able to find any documentation that confirms either parent for this specific Rebecca (Seton-587). Do you have any source information that you could add to Seton-587 to confirm? If not, could you please delete the father for now? Hopefully down the line--between the two of us--we can find something solid!
Thanks so much for being a part of the Mid-Atlantic team for the January Connect-a-thon! Working together we added 2,334 profiles. A special shout out to Star Kline who was our number one scorer.
Please check your suggestions list (it is on the My Wikitree drop down menu) before orphaning any profiles.
Can you believe it is time for another Connect-a-thon? It will run from 8 am EST Friday, January 19th to 8 am EST Monday, January 22nd. I hope you will join us. Registration ends on Wednesday, January 17th at midnight EST. Registration is a little different this time around. You have to find the post for your team and reply to that post. We've missed you at this weekend's Source-A-Thon. But it's not over yet, so there's still time to get in on the fun! Come jopin us if you have some time to source a profile or two.
We hope you can join the MidAtlantic Team for the 2023 Source-a-thon. It will start 8 am EDT on Friday, September 29th and end at 8 am on Monday, October 2nd. The Source-a-thon is different from the Connect-a-thon in that we will be improving existing profiles. To register for the Source-a-thon, please answer this post:
Also, different is that most of the prizes given out at the hang outs are donated by members so there are a wide variety. If you would like to look at what has been donated so far or to donate a prize yourself:

The January Connect-a-Thon is coming up shortly, 8 AM EST, Friday January 13th to 8 AM EST Monday, January 16th.
The rules are simple. You need to start from an existing profile and add family to it, parents, children. (If you have siblings to add, add the parents first.) It must have at least one source.
You get a point for each profile you create. You do not have to use the challenge tracker or count--the system will do it automatically. Avoid creating profiles for living people as they will not count.
To get to know your team mates and make sure you can get into Discord and our team chat, try posting a picture of something in your home town without any explanation. And, the others can try to guess where it is. This is just for fun and not required!
If you don't want to use Discord or have problems with it, you can send a pm to either Lucy or me with any questions.
Thank you for contributing to the December 2021 Sourcerers Challenge! As you know, every source added to an unsourced profile improves our One Tree. Thank you for taking time from your own family history to help others.
Hi newfound cousin! We have common ancestor 7.7 generations back, and I expect that Ancestor will be Col. Philip Hoskins. I descend through his son Bennett Hoskins. Welcome to my world of Ancestry family history from Maryland to (West) Virginia. Our lineage surname changed from Hoskins to Hudkins circa 1820-30!
Thank you so much for your contributions. With regard to "Clean Drinking"... That's a 700 acre spread I wish was passed down through my branch of the tree! Who wouldn't like 700 acres in the middle of Chevy Chase, MD? LOL
Very well done on your making 1,000 or more contributions to WikiTree in June 2019! We commend and appreciate all of your time and effort in helping to grow and perfect our Shared Tree. Keep up the great work!
Congratulations on making more than 1,000 contributions to WikiTree for the Month of May. We all appreciate your efforts to make our Shared Tree the best it can be. Keep up the great work and THANK YOU!
There were twin Culver males born in 1768 (Benjamin and Joseph), sons of David(4) Colver, siblings of Henry and William. These boys married Porter sisters and had children in Hebron, CT. One source has Benj. Dying in 1796, but another has his child born after 1800. The Porter and Colver lines are well documented to that point by later family genealogists in works youΒve probably seen.
And yet no one has any reliable documentation of Henry Porter CulverΒs birth that I can find on-line. Tom
Henryβs sister Lucy went to Wisconsin with him. She married Justus Perry Wheeler. Their children were cousins of HPCβs children. The relationship (cousins) was stated in a newspaper article reporting on Ruth Sigourney Culverβs wedding to Frank Sanner. Lucyβs lineage is documented in her daughterβs husbandβs family genealogy.
The Culver twins and the Porter girlsβ marriages are reported in the Porter genealogy. HPC is my 3xGGF. This Culver line suffered greatly from TB. My paternal GM was raised by a paternal aunt after her father died in a train crash in the Bronx in 1907.

You're the profile manager for a number of Henrietta Tilghmans. Can you take a look at Hemsley-4 to see if it is a duplicate of one of them?
Thanks.

Since Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential.
I see you have chosen the same project as I would: US_history. With that I assume you will work on Maryland. Thank you for joining.
If needed here is the Pre-1700 Projects list, located at the top of your page, 4th topic on right, under <Find> and <Projects>.
