I have been doing genealogy research for close to 50 years, ever since my grandfather gifted me a box of family materials that his mother had collected. From then on, I was hooked. I've spent many (happy!) vacation days travelling to sites where my ancestors lived, visiting libraries, court houses and cemeteries to gain information.

I'm really enjoying WikiTree and the chance to present family information and share it with other genealogists.

There were twin Culver males born in 1768 (Benjamin and Joseph), sons of David(4) Colver, siblings of Henry and William. These boys married Porter sisters and had children in Hebron, CT. One source has Benj. Dying in 1796, but another has his child born after 1800. The Porter and Colver lines are well documented to that point by later family genealogists in works you’ve probably seen.

And yet no one has any reliable documentation of Henry Porter Culver’s birth that I can find on-line. Tom

Hi Anne!

You've been a member for about a week so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!

I want to help! Click my name, send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz, Anne!

Since Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential.

I see you have chosen the same project as I would: US_history. With that I assume you will work on Maryland. Thank you for joining.

If needed here is the Pre-1700 Projects list, located at the top of your page, 4th topic on right, under <Find> and <Projects>.

For questions, just ask on my page.
