Biography

Sampson was born about 1841. He was the son of Priestly Scurlock and Easter Brown. His grandfather was a veteran soldier of the Revolutionary War.

War came to the south and to Alabama in April of 1861.

Sampson enlisted in Company B of the 1st Battalion of Alabama Artillery in March of 1861. At that time there was no Colonel for the battalion.

Military

He was in the Battle at Kennessaw Mountain and Jonesboro in Georgia and the Battle of Franklin in Tennessee. He was discharged in March of 1864.

Life after the war

Family

He was married to Mary E. Willis in Elmore County, Alabama in 1867.


He passed away about 1922. He is buried at the Hebron Cemetery, Bibb County, Alabama.[1]
